At New Vision, we believe that empowering all members of the community is essential for building a stronger future. While women and children make up a significant portion of the refugee community, we’ve observed that their active participation in community activities is often limited. That’s why, since 2019, we have been committed to increasing the involvement and leadership of women and girls.
We actively encourage and support women’s participation to help them enhance their capabilities and take on greater responsibility within their communities. The results of this commitment are already visible. When we first began, only 1 out of 5 of our team members were female. Today, our team of 23 includes 17 women who are actively involved in decision-making and leading our organization’s direction.
To further our mission, our female team members have established a dedicated women’s safe space within New Vision. This space serves as a vital hub for monthly sessions where women and girls from the refugee community can come together to discuss their concerns and share their experiences.
Topics that were once considered taboo, such as gendered roles, gender-based violence, and women’s rights, are now openly discussed. This safe and supportive environment allows for a free exchange of ideas, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
New Vision is dedicated to creating an environment where every individual, regardless of their gender or background, can contribute their talents to serve our community. We are proud to be a platform for empowerment, showing that true community growth comes from the inclusion of all.
